At the start of the last half term (5th June – 24th July) before the summer holidays, the children (weather permitting) use the school pool every day (during school summer term – school opening hours only) for swimming lessons. The cost for each child to use the pool for swimming lessons for 7 weeks is only £10 (which equates to approx. 29p per day). This money is essential for us, in partnership with School to provide swimming as part of the National Curriculum. The pool is not financed by the Local Authority and is solely reliant on parent/carer contributions. It is a real and rare asset for the school but without fees and memberships, the pool would need to close. This fee goes towards providing lessons (where the children gain confidence in a not very deep pool and have lots of fun at the same time) and the annual running and maintenance costs of the pool.
The payment of the school swimming lesson fees is mandatory and needs to be paid by Tuesday 5th June 2018. Please download a form below. All monies are to be placed in a sealed named envelope marked ‘Swimming Lessons’ and returned into the FOLSS white postbox in the School Office Reception area, your child’s book bags or passed to Jo Byrne or Lisa Walters.
If you do not pay your fees by the 5th June a reminder letter from the school office will be sent home.
We will need a parent helper at each lesson so that the children can be safely supervised in the water. If you are able to give us a set time each week when you can help (a morning or an afternoon), then please contact Mrs. Jackson or Ms. Jones. It would be helpful for you to have attended one of the free Resuscitation Classes organised by FOLSS have a First Aid Certificate, but this is not essential. Please note that you will not necessarily be supporting your child’s class. Thank you for your support.
We also need helpers to clean the pool house, weed the poolside etc. before we open the pool on the 25th May 2018 and after it closes in September. Please contact Jo Byrne if you can help in any way.
