Bishop Rachel officially opens the Spiritual Garden28th April 2016
The school was blessed (literally) by the presence of Bishop Rachel Treweek who took time out of her busy schedule to come and open the school’s Spiritual Garden. FOLSS helped in the creation of the garden by donating money from last year’s sponsored swim. A dedicated team of parents, governors, teachers etc have been busy over the last 12 months getting the groundworks and planting started, which is now bearing fruit (not literally – just yet).
All of the school received prayers from Bishop Rachel who cut the ribbon and then took part in a Q&A session. Pupils asked questions, revealing the fact that Bishop Rachel could take on Mr. Green in the chocolate eating stakes and revealed her love of walking and a new hobby – canoeing! Bishop Rachel really engaged with the children and her background as a former speech and language therapist working in London preceded her journey of ordination in the Church of England. Tea and cake was then served in the staff room for those involved with the project including Mr. Smith who returned to see the garden, staff and pupils.
