We are really looking forward to supporting the SALS Shoes ‘Toe to Toe’ project again this year! Our donated summer, school and winter shoes last summer have made their way to Syria and crocs to Cambodia.
There are 300 million children in the world for whom walking with shoes is a rarity. This makes them extremely vulnerable to infection by parasites, such as hookworm; while injuries to the feet and ankles can lead to ulcers and other conditions which are almost always left untreated. Without shoes, many children are not permitted to attend school. The UK based charity ‘Sals Shoes’ collects all types of used children’s shoes and sends them to over 26 countries (incl. UK).
In 2017, just under 600 schools in the U.K. [alongside several schools worldwide] participated in Toe to Toe. Over 175,000 pairs of Sal’s Shoes were donated.
If you would like your child(ren) to take part in the last day of terms ‘walk out’ you will need to fill out a permissions slip which can be found on all of the SALS Shoes event pages on our website.
